We invite children ages 5 and older to explore their creativity by choosing from an array of art classes! All kids art classes take place in our Los Angeles, CA studio or in your backyard for private art classes!

Spring Semester
Spring Semester begins on April 2, 2024 until June 6, 2024. Click the link below to explore all of the art classes that will be offered for Kids during this semester.
Private 1:1 Classes
Interested in children’s art programs but want to do it outside of a group setting? Have an idea for a painting but need some extra support? We offer one-on-one private art classes for kids with one of our Art Instructors.
Pricing:
1 participant- $250 for 2 hours.
2 participants- $350 for 2 hours.
Fall Semester

Summer Semester
Summer Semester begins on June 10, 2024 until end of August. We currently don’t have our finalized spring classes available for registration, so check back in on May 1, 2024.

Group Painting Classes for Kids in LA
The Artsy Backyard is dedicated to providing high-quality kids' art classes that are just as enriching and inspiring as they are fun. We offer several group painting classes for kids, each running for about ten weeks to allow students to gain a solid grasp of multiple skills and build their portfolios.
Young Artist Creative Class
The Young Artist Creative Class provides a fun, encouraging environment for young artists to brainstorm, collaborate, and build confidence in their abilities.
Made up of kindergarten and first-grade students, the Young Artist Creative Class encourages artistic exploration and expression using some basic techniques and a whole lot of creativity.
The Young Artist Creative Class gives students the opportunity to experiment with all kinds of media to create their own unique projects. This could include anything from typical artistic media, like paints, pastels, and colored pencils, to more eclectic materials, like those found in recycled objects, paper crafts, and clay.
Kids Creative Class
The Kids Creative Class is designed for children in second and third grade to learn some of the basic fundamentals of art. With a combination of drawing, painting in fine-art style, clay, and other media, students will gain experience in a variety of artistic settings while learning how to express themselves in various ways.
The Kids Creative Class is the perfect place for kids to immerse themselves in art for the first time or develop skills that they’ve already been working on elsewhere. Our skilled staff at The Artsy Backyard facilitates plenty of group participation while still making sure that each student gets the individual attention and help they need.
Pre-Teen Creative Class
The Pre-Teen Creative Class expands upon many of the same fundamentals presented in the Kids Creative Class. However, since this class is designed for older students between fourth and sixth grade, students can expand upon those skills to reach new heights of artistic and technical ability.
Using a variety of media, including drawing, fine art-style painting, and clay, the students in the Pre-Teen Creative Class learn how to apply the fundamentals of technique within many different contexts.
While some class sessions are dedicated to a specific skill or idea, other class sessions have an open format so that students can choose their own reference and medium.
There are so many ways for the students in the Pre-Teen Creative Class to expand their unique artistic style and expression with the skills and techniques they learn during this course.
Turn Your Backyard into an Art Studio with Mobile Classes
We love welcoming our community into our studio, located in the heart of Los Angeles at the corner of 3rd and La Brea. However, for many potential art students, a fully equipped art class right in their own backyard can be even more convenient.
With our Mobile Backyard Classes, you can enjoy all the benefits of our in-studio kids' art classes in the comfort of your backyard. Students can invite as many of their friends over as they’d like to participate in the classes alongside them. These classes are designed for students between the ages of first and fifth grade.
We bring all the supplies necessary to provide our students with an enriching artistic experience. All we’ll need is some space to spread out, tables and chairs if preferred, and plenty of creative energy from your kiddos. For our Backyard Mobile Classes, we ask for a minimum of five students in each class and four weeks of commitment.
